Seminar 23/11 – Forest plot mapping of mobile laser scanning using terrestrial LiDAR as prior information – Jie Shao

For the weekly seminar of the STORM research group, Jie Shao will give a talk on Forest plot mapping of mobile laser scanning using terrestrial LiDAR as prior information.

Abstract
Due to its strong mobility, mobile laser scanning (MLS) is widely used in 3D reconstruction of various scenes. However, the common mapping method based on MLS often ignores the potential value of prior information because of great generality and flexibility. Several researchers addressed laser-based mapping problem utilizing prior information which include GPS and 2D map, and greatly improved solutions to the problem. However, these methods mainly focus on indoor/urban road, and are difficult to apply to forest scenes due to occlusion. Therefore, we study mapping of MLS using terrestrial LiDAR as prior information which is data of high precision and density for forest plot.

This seminar will take place the 23/11 at 12:30pm in the Salle des Thèses at IRIT.
