Feedback on the first InnEO Space PhD summer school

/ August 31, 2021

In the framework of the European project InnEO’Space_PhD, a summer school was organized for the first time in Romania. It was held from July 19 to 24, 2021 at the Transilvania University of Brasov. Aimed at PhD students preparing for a career in academic or industrial research, this innovative training welcomed 40 participants from 6 European countries (Italy, Romania, France, Germany, Poland and Lithuania). They were supervised by thirteen international professors and experts, including Professor Mihai Datcu from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest and Professor Alan Smeaton from the University of Dublin.

During a 6-day course, the participants were able to deepen their knowledge on earth observation, data management and machine learning. They also developed transversal skills in communication, project management and open sciences. The exchanges were numerous and enriching for students and professors, happy to be able to meet and exchange face to face after the months of isolation imposed by the Covid 19 pandemic. Online resources (SPOCs) were generated during this summer school and will be available for teachers wishing to use them during other trainings.
