Seminar 09/04 – Jules Vidal – Understanding and visualizing the space of algebraic spheres for point cloud analysis

For the next STORM seminar, Jules Vidal will be giving a presentation titled: Understanding and visualizing the space of algebraic spheres for point cloud analysis

Abstract:

Algebraic point set surfaces allow the local reconstruction of a surface from a 3d point clouds. In this setting, algebraic spheres are fitted to each input data point with respect to a neighborhood defined at a certain scale.
As such, the original point cloud can be analyzed in the shape space of algebraic spheres at this given scale.
We study the definition of metrics in this space, with applications to the analysis and visualization of the repartition of geometrical primitives (planes and spheres) in the data.

This seminar will take place on Tuesday 09/04 at 1:45pm (13:45) in room Salle des thèses at IRIT.
