Project: Produce a benchmark application that is sufficiently generic in order to be a place of illustration of a certain number of research projects conducted at IRIT in information processing (in the broadest sense), and a place for (collective) experimentation of ideas, and more specifically an application that can be used as a reference for a certain number of research projects in information processing (in the broadest sense), and a place for (collective) experimentation of ideas:
- illustrate (upstream) research developed at IRIT and highlight it,
- bring together researchers and PhDs from different teams on the application of their work, run this work jointly, or even cooperate more closely,
- in the long run, this application could be rich enough to contribute to renew the way of posing problems both from a methodological point of view and from an application perspective. What this project is not: neither “one more benchmark”, nor pure and simple “technology transfer”. Indeed, this project is not linked to any specific contract in order to remain free of any overly specific specifications.
The proposed project finds its framework in intelligent and interactive information search and exploitation systems for decision support, accessible, possibly remotely, by non-specialist users.
The chosen application is a system of this type, currently focusing on the general problems of tourism in the regions (searching for information, organizing days, stays, trips, possibly also studying the tastes of tourists, etc.). Tourism is here first of all chosen as a field of applications that can provide illustrations, easily understandable, to a wide range of problems and methods.
