Objectives of the Reserach Project

The C2C project concerns vehicles with an autonomy level of 4 in which the vehicle drives and the driver supervises without being obliged to do so at all times. Even if he can do something other than drive, he must remain in the driving seat to regain control if necessary.

This project aims to study the innovative problem of collectives of autonomous and connected vehicle as well as the acceptability and appropriation of the human using these vehicles and the human travelling in the environment populated by this kind of vehicles. This project is therefore studied according to two complementary axes: 1) ergonomic and societal and 2) IT.

From an ergonomic point of view, its objective is to provide an architecture and recommendations that promote human acceptance and appropriation of these vehicles and that are based on the study of indices determining human behaviour (driver and/or passenger).

From a computer point of view, this involves studying how each vehicle - of a collective of vehicles - communicates with neighbouring vehicles and behaves/reacts in response to information provided by its neighbours. A lock consists in particular in determining which information is relevant to communicate among all the data retrieved from the vehicle's sensors.
