TAMODIA'2009 is the 8th in a series of workshops focussed around the notations used to describe user tasks. The notations range from textual and graphical forms to formal descriptions as well as interactive, multimodal and multimedia tools. Submissions are equally welcome from those studying notations and modelling frameworks themselves, or the ways in which these fit within the interaction design process.

TAMODIA 2009 will be run jointly with the Working Conference on Human Error, Safety and Systems Development (HESSD'2009) in Brussels, Belgium,September 23-25, 2009.

We seek high-quality, original papers that address the theory, design, development and evaluation of ideas, tools, techniques, methodologies in (but not limited to) the following topics:

Task Analysis

  • Understanding opportunistic, dynamically planned on-the-fly activities, and non-planned activities
  • Participatory role of the user in task elicitation
  • Verification and validation of task models
  • Properties of tasks
  • Understanding opportunistic, dynamically planned on-the-fly activities, and non-planned activities
  • Ethnographically informed task model construction

Processes and methods

  • Early requirements for task-based design
  • Task-based design
  • Integration of task analysis and task modelling with software engineering
  • Integration of task analysis and task modelling with user centred design
  • Derivation of UI from task models: systematic processes and methods

Task Modelling

  • Analytical and empirical task modelling
  • Cognitive task models
  • Notations and tools for task modelling

Application Domains

  • Task analysis and task models for critical systems
  • Task analysis and task models for e-commerce and e-government
  • Task analysis and task models for collaborative systems
  • Task analysis and task models for complex or exceptional tasks
  • The role of task analysis in modelling leisure, entertainment, creative activities or experiences
  • Task Analysis and task models for Education
  • Task Analysis and task models in Service Domains
