Addressing the Challenges of Multi-Modeling for Domain-Specific Modeling Languages

Moderator

Doug Schmidt, Vanderbilt University, USA

Date

October 3rd, 2008

Motivation

Domain-specific modeling languages (DSMLs) are designed to provide precise abstractions of domain-specific constructs. Models for complex systems typically do not fit neatly within a single domain, however. Moreover, capturing all important aspects of such a system requires developing multiple models using different DSMLs. This panel will explore promising solutions to challenges associated with combining DSML models into multi-models, including capturing multi-model interdependencies, maintaining multi-model consistency, and achieving semantic precision of inter-model data exchange.

Panelists

Jean Bézivin, Université de Nantes, France
Trip Denton, Lockheed Martin Advanced Technology Labs, USA
Edward A. Lee, University of California at Berkeley, USA
Bran Selic, Malina Software Corp, USA
Jules White, Vanderbilt University, USA
