Co-organization of a conference in logic to support Ukrainian researchers

About fifteen associations and institutions are joining forces to co-organize an online event in support of Ukrainian researchers. It is a conference on research in logic, which will be held on April 22 and 23, 2022. This event aims to raise funds to support Ukrainian scientists.

Supporting Ukrainian researchers

The logicians attending this conference are united for peace. The ongoing Russian military invasion of Ukraine is causing death, destruction and is the direct cause of a massive humanitarian crisis. Educational institutions have been affected, supply chains have been broken and people have lost their families and homes. This conference aims to provide moral and financial support to Ukrainian researchers in this time of war.

This event will raise funds for two specific causes which are to provide financial assistance to university professors in Ukraine, who are either displaced or have lost their homes, and are therefore in urgent need and to support the charitable fund « Voix d’enfants », which provides humanitarian aid and assists Ukraine in the ongoing evacuation processes.

A scientific event around logic

At a time when the world urgently needs more logic and rationality, Logic4Peace is creating a platform for logicians from around the world to present their work in any area of logic, including philosophical logic, philosophy of logic, and history of logic; mathematical and computational logic; and applied logic and logical structures used in the sciences and humanities.

It is an initiative that brings together laboratories and institutions from several countries, with the objective of international solidarity and support for the world of research. The partners of this initiative, of which IRIT is a part (LILaC team of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) department), are Institut pour la logique, le langage et le calcul (ILLC) ; Associazione Italiana di Logica e Applicazioni (AILA); Association Néerlandaise pour la Logique et la Philosophie des Sciences Exactes (VVL) ; Société Scandinave de Logique (SLS) ; l’Association polonaise pour la logique et la philosophie des sciences (PTLiFN), Groupe de logique géorgienne ; Centre National Belge de Recherche en Logique  (CNRL-NCNL) ; la Société Suisse de Logique et de Philosophie des Sciences  (SSLPS) ; l’association pour la logique, le langage et l’information (FoLLI); The Logic Group at the Institute of Computer Science of the Czech Academy of Sciences (LogICS) ; Centre de philosophie mathématique de Munich (MCMP) ; Thème Théorie, Modélisation et Calcul de la Scottish Informatics & CS Alliance and the co-organizing team in Ukraine : Prof. Iryna Khomenko, Department of Logic of the National University Taras Shevchenko de Kiev, et Prof. Yaroslav Shramko, State Pedagogical University of Kryvyi Rih.
