[storm][storm-seminar] Seminar 04/09 – Hugo Rens – Caching path tracing in volumes

For the next STORM seminar, Hugo Rens will give a presentation titled : Caching path tracing in volumes

Abstract

The Monte Carlo simulation of light transport in volumes in extremely costly, as we expect a smooth result from a process which is relatively erratic and random. This usually requires a lot of samples. In this seminar I’ll present a theory and pipeline, on which we are currently working, and whose goal is to isolate the path tracing occuring inside the volume from the lighting and view settings. This makes it possible to make the biggest part of the processing view- and lighting-independant, and avoid useless recomputations. We will express the volume as a filter acting on a signal (the field of incoming radiance distributions) and producing a field of scattered radiance distributions.

This seminar will take place on Friday 04/09 at 12:30pm in room Salle des Thèses at IRIT.

Sanitary instructions : Masks are mandatory for attendees and speaker must be at least 1 meter (2 seems better) away from the audience.
