Seminar 06/07 – Forest Environment Mapping based on Mobile Laser Scanning

For the weekly seminar of the STORM research group, Jie Shao will give a presentation on Forest Environment Mapping based on Mobile Laser Scanning.

Abstract
Forest is an important part of the Earth’s ecosystem, and plays an important role in improving the environment and maintaining ecological balance. In the forest survey, the accurate description of the 3D structure of the forest is the scientific basis for forest ecological research. Laser scanning is nowadays a very common 3D information acquisition technique because of its high precision and active measurement characteristics, especially mobile laser scanning which acquires data faster and more efficiently and is widely used for 3D reconstruction of indoor and outdoor scenes. Therefore, in order to acquire complete and rich forest structure information more efficiently, I will introduce how to use mobile laser scanning for forest environment 3D mapping.

This seminar will take place the 06/07 at 12:30pm in the Salle des Thèses at IRIT.
