Cédric Févotte, distinguished IEEE Fellow

Our colleague Cédric Févotte, CNRS research director, member of the SC (Signal & Communications) team, has been promoted to the rank of IEEE Fellow, effective 1 January 2022.

He is known for his contributions in matrix factorization, source separation and spectral de-mixing. His research work is in the area of data decomposition. This consists in expressing observed data (a signal, a set of images, word counts or song listening) as a sum of elementary components that allow to characterize or process these observations. His work has had a considerable impact in the field of music source separation. His recent activities show contributions in inverse problems (imaging, phase reconstruction), recommender systems and representation learning. He is the leader of the ERC Consolidator FACTORY project.

IEEE is a professional association with over 400,000 members. It promotes scientific research and technological innovation in engineering and information science. The rank of Fellow is awarded to members who have made outstanding contributions in one of the IEEE scientific fields (320 new Fellows in 2022).
