Abstract

The aim of this conference is to introduce participants to the important sections of the modern Information theory, widely used in different branches of science. The program is composed of classical and up-to-date textbooks, as well as the results of recent studies.

The objectives are to explore the communication systems from the simplest model to the complex information systems, to investigate the correlations of characteristics (transmission rate, reliability, distortion, error probability) of these systems.

This conference will be followed up by a discussion on the use of information theory in various domains and possible collaborations.

Short bio: Mariam Harutyunyan is Professor in information theory, leading researcher, head of department for Information Theory and Statistical Models at Institute for Informatics and Automation Problems of National Academy of Sciences of Armenia (IIAP NAS RA) since 2014. Her scientific interests are in information theory, information security, mathematical statistics, community detection, anomaly detection. From 2001 to 2011 she was the scientific secretary of IIAP NAS RA. From 2011 to 2013 she was leading the department for Informatics at the Armenian State Pedagogical University. Six PhD students were supervised to successful completion by her. Since 2012 she is a member of IEEE Information Theory Society, since 2013 member of IEEE computer society.
