PostDoc positions:PostDoc1: Energy efficiency in Numerical Codes for Post-Petascale architectures
======= POSTDOCS ========At IRIT-University of Toulouse (one of the largest computer science laboratory in France: more than 600 researchers), two teams (APO and SEPIA,>20 permanent researchers,>15 PhD) are currently working on Parallel numerical codes (APO) and Energy Efficiency (SEPIA).
FP3C Project, funded by the French Research Agency is a bilateral project with Japan. The goal of the project is to address the development of runtime systems for scientific applications running on post-petaflopic machines. Within this project, the energy used for running numerical codes must be reduced.
Building on our current studies on this topic at IRIT, the recruited PostDoc is expected to contribute to the characterization of the running applications in terms of energy and performance tradeoff, so as to exploit phases in the numerical codes and reduce the overall energy footprint. Investigating both the leverages at the numerical codes level and at the operating system level (both studied independently at the moment) will allow for enhanced energy savings and reduced energy-to-solution.
Requirements:- A PhD. in Computer Science- Experience in at least one of the following: Parallel programming, Scientific computing methods, Performance evaluation, Energy efficiency, Optimization and Modeling- Programming skills in C / C++ / Fortran (or eager to learn it)- Fluent in English, French is bonus
