Research

 Current Research Activities

My current research activities cover image analysis. More precisely, I focus on several 3D-reconstruction techniques:

This year, I am provisionally a researcher of the CMLA ("délégation CNRS").

 Research Experience

  • PhD Thesis in computer science - Université Paris Sud-Orsay, defended in February 1993.
  • Assistant professor in computer science at the Université Paul Sabatier since September 1994.
  • HDR in computer science - Université Paul Sabatier, defended in December 2007.

 Supervision

  • PhD Students:
  • Other Students:
    • Pascal Daniel: Reconnaissance du relief à partir de l'éclairement : méthodes itératives, Master's Dissertation - Université Paul Sabatier, defended in July 1996 (full supervision).
    • Nicolas Bertrand: Shape from shading et recuit simulé, Master's Dissertation - Université Paul Sabatier, defended in July 1999 (full supervision).
    • Thaddée Comby: Premiers pas vers la reconstruction 3D d'utérus à partir d'images endoscopiques, Master's Dissertation - Université Paul Sabatier, defended in June 2001 (co-supervision with Alain Ayache).
    • Frédéric Rivain: 3D Reconstruction from a Single Image, Diploma in Computer Science - École Centrale de Paris, defended in July 2001 (co-supervision with Marc Cardle, Darwin College, Oxford, UK).
    • Frédéric Courteille: Prise en compte du modèle sténopé pour l'extraction du relief en monovision, Master's Dissertation - Université Paul Sabatier, defended in July 2003 (co-supervision with Pierre Gurdjos and Alain Crouzil).
    • Ivan Pétillot: Utilisation des contours en reconstruction 3D, Master's Dissertation - Université Paul Sabatier, defended in July 2005 (co-supervision with Pierre Gurdjos and Frédéric Courteille).

 Projects

  • April 1999 - December 2000: research partner for Shape from shading et recuit simulé - Application à la radarclinométrie, young researchers project of the GdR ISIS. Head: Xavier Descombes, INRIA-Sophia Antipolis.
  • 2004 - 2005: head of PLATONOV - Photocopies de Livres Anciens par Techniques d'Optimisation Numérique et sOlutions de Viscosité, Franco-Italian Galilée project of Égide. Partners: IRIT - TCI team, INRIA-Sophia Antipolis - Ariana project, laboratory in mathematics at the Università La Sapienza di Roma, Italy.
  • October 2006 - October 2008: research partner for Nanomultiplex, project of the Institut des Techniques Avancées du Vivant (ITAV, Cancéropôle of Toulouse). Other partners: Institut de Pharmacologie et de Biologie des Systèmes (IPBS, UMR 5089), Laboratoire d'Analyse et d'Architecture des Systèmes (LAAS, UPR 8001), Laboratoire de Microbiologie et Génétique Moléculaires (LMGM, UMR 5100), Genomic Vision (startup of the Institut Pasteur) and Magellium. Head: Laurence Salomé, IPBS.
