Fifth International Workshop :
Parallel and Distributed
Databases : innovative applications and new architectures (PaDD'2003)
Research in parallel and distributed database systems is stimulated
both by advances in technology (e.g. parallel architectures, high performance
networks) and by the ever increasing requirements of new applications (Multimedia,
Data Mining, Data Warehouses, etc, ...) such as high computing performance,
optimized I/O and minimized communication costs.
At the same time databases distributed all over the world-wide-web
have become a reality. Quality-of-service aspects, use of middleware (CORBA,
DCOM...) must be addressed at the same time as security issues.
The fifth edition of the Workshop Parallel and Distributed Databases
: innovative applications and new architectures (PaDD'2003) provides an
international forum to scientists and practitioners from academia and industry
to present their research contributions and practical experiences. This
topic offers the opportunity to discuss requirements, problems and solutions
in the area, to identify news issues and to shape future directions of
research.
Both practical and theoretical contributions are encouraged, we also
call for work in progress.
