Evolving Interactive Systems Through Use
Evolution des systèmes interactifs basée sur les usages

The “design space” of interactive systems has exploded in complexity over the past few years and this increase in complexity shows no signs of slowing down. Mobile devices in particular offer powerful functionality available via a variety of sophisticated interactive techniques exploiting dynamic context sensing and utilising ad hoc and infrastructure-based wireless communications. The uses, and usability issues arising from the use of, such technology are difficult, and sometimes impossible, to predict in advance of use. In this talk, I will present some of the ways in which members of GIST, the HCI Research Group at the University of Glasgow, are addressing this research challenge by exploring ways to develop systems that support gradual change by users, based on information collected from their use.

Philip Gray est maître de conférences en informatique à l’Université de Glasgow. Depuis plus de 20 ans, il s’intéresse aux systèmes interactifs configurables de manière dynamique. Il a notamment contribué au développement du langage de modélisation de tâches UAN. Récemment, il a focalisé ses recherches sur les systèmes interactifs mobiles, et plus particulièrement pour une utilisation dans des applications médicales.
