1. By Air

Except for direct flights to Toulouse, travelers need to fly via Paris, mainly Roissy-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport or Orly airport. Orly is the second airport in Paris. It is about 30 kilometers from CDG, and is mainly devoted to national flights.

Orly and CDG airports are either linked by subway OrlyVal and RER B or Air France buses.

RER B + OrlyVal operate from 6h AM to 11h PM with a frequency about 4 to 8 minutes. It costs about 16 euros.

Air France buses operate from 6h30 AM to 10h30 PM with departure frequency about 30 minutes. It costs about 15 euros. The trip between the 2 airports takes between 40 minutes and 1 hour and 20 minutes depending on the importance of the traffic congestion.

Paris - Toulouse:

Connections are either from CDG airport or Orly airport.

A good solution is to have a connection via Orly.

Air France operates from Orly WEST. In Orly West, Hall 2, there is the Shuttle for Toulouse ("La Navette"), from 6.30 AM till 9.00 PM, every half an hour, except around noon with hourly flights. Other companies (Aeris, EasyJet) operate from Orly SOUTH.

Toulouse-Blagnac Airport

Toulouse-Blagnac airport is the 4th French airport. It is at about 10 kilometers from downtown.

To reach the city, you can get the shuttle bus at arrival level hall 1 every 20 minutes. The shuttle can bring you to the bus station adjacent to the main railway station in about 25 minutes. This is the best solution to get to downtown Toulouse.

The price of a one-way ticket by the shuttle bus is 3.8 euros, a two-way one costs 5.7 euros and is valid for two months.

Stops of the shuttle bus are: Compans-Caffarelli (close to the conference hotel, Mercure ATRIA Hotel), Jeanne d'Arc, Jean Jaurès (near the very center and the subway) and Matabiau railway station.

You can also get a taxi to reach the downtown area; the fare by taxi will cost about 20-25 euros.

2. By train

Be aware that Toulouse is 700 km far from Paris and that travelling by train takes a lot of time (about 5h in TGV, 6h30 in Corail - and a night if you come from Nice and Lyon). WEB site for French National Railways: SNCF where you can get international train schedules. Plan sufficient connection time, especially if you commute in Paris. All trains arrive at the Gare Matabiau in Toulouse, very centrally located, at about 1 kilometer from the downtown area (Capitole place). Toulouse is connected to the TGV system with many towns. Examples of travel time: from Bordeaux (2 h), Paris (5h 30mn)... Corail system: International connections with Roma, Milan, Geneva, Brussels, London, Barcelona...

4. Toulouse Public transportation (bus and subway)

Toulouse is served by subway and bus. Information can be found on the web site of the SEMVAT (in french). You will find maps and schedules of the different buses as well as those of the subway line A.
