After four years the COSI project has now finished. Thanks to everyone who has used and benefited from this project and from this website. The COSI website will continue to be maintained for a short while.

The results obtained from the project are available via our Results page . Note that the final results will be added to this website soon

This years COSI Summer School was held from the 27th July to the 1st August 2003 in Baeza, Andalucia, Spain.

The presentations given by speakers are available on the Summer School 2003 pages

Dinner in Ubeda.

The COSI Summer School 2003 aimed to:
  • to provide attendees with an introduction into the fundamental concepts of complex systems theory;
  • to describe the transition from real social science problems, through field study analysis and model development, to agent-based simulation;
  • to investigate deeper theoretical and epistemological issues of complex systems theory via in-depth focused discussion sessions;
  • to provide attendees with the practical experience of applying complex systems theory to real work situations. This will be achieved by project case studies where attendees will work in small multi-disciplinary groups covering aspects of field study analysis, design and modelling and computer simulation.

The Summer School was hosted and was co-organised by the Computer Architecture and Technology Department (ATC) of the University of Granada.

A tutorial on Complexity in Social Science is available as part of our first phase of results.

An Introductory Tutorial on Complexity in Social Science, complete with notes and examples.

Details of conferences, workshops, Summer schools, etc. related to complex systems theory, agent-based modelling and simulation, analysis of real socio-technical work settings, etc. can be found on the Conferences web page.

Some of the COSI partners have a common interest in the area of Emergency Rescue. As a result we have formed a Special Interest Group (SIG) on Emergency Rescue.

The aims, partners involved, work, etc. of the Emergency Rescue SIG can be found here.

The cosiinterest email list is for distributing information to people who are interested in our work and who would like to receive other related information. Although the COSI project has now finished I will continue to distribute information related to complexity in social science. If you would like to be on the cosiinterest e-mail list please click here.

The COSI project has now finished so there are no vacancies available, Sorry.
