The IFIP TC8/Working Group 8.3 conferences present the latest innovations and achievements of academic communities on Decision Support Systems (DSS). These advances include theory, systems, computer aided methods, algorithms, techniques, and applications related to supporting decision making.
For 2008, the objective was to create a synergy between the two groups around a specific focus: Collaborative Decision Making. Papers submitted to the conference have for main objectives to support Collaborative Decision Making but with several kinds of tools or models. 69 papers have been submitted. 34 full papers, 9 short papers and 14 posters have been selected.
Full and short papers are published in a book at IOSPress publishers,
N°ISSN: 0922-6389 and edited by P. Zaraté, J.P. Belaud, G. Camilleri, F. Ravat. This book is available for 45 Euros by clicking here
90 participants were registered to the conference coming from 24 different countries: France, Ireland, Chile, Slovenia, Switzerland, Australia, Suede, UK, Germany, USA, Italia, Portugal, Nederland, Hungary, Algeria, Poland, India, Spain, Bangladesh, Burma, Korea, Ukraine, Jordan, and Tunisia.
The Award of the best poster has been assigned to J. Hernandez coming from Valencia, Spain for the poster entitled: “A collaborative decision-making model to support the reverse logistic process in the supply chain. An application of the GRAI methodology to the automobile sector.”
IFIP offers two grants for two participants coming from Eastern countries; these two participants were fully supported. EURO offers four grants for only the registration fees for four participants.
Following the conference five special issues are proposed:

The IFIP TC8/Working Group 8.3 conferences present the latest innovations and achievements of academic communities on Decision Support Systems (DSS). These advances include theory, systems, computer aided methods, algorithms, techniques, and applications related to supporting decision making.
This conference is supported by the Euro Working Group on DSS (see http://www.euro-online.org/).
The main theme for the 2008 edition of the conference is Collaborative Decision Making and in particular, addressing the question of how to support Collaboration in Decision Making? Welcome answers will incorporate key elements to deal with the complexity of supporting collaborative decision making. Expected contributions will try to answer to some of the following questions:
Where does the data for collaborative decision making come from and how is it assembled?
Who is, or should be, involved in making the decision?
How do teams collaborate to build up common understanding?
How to Tackle Complexity in decision making and decision support?
A special focus on Data, Models and Actors will be taken into account.
Topics : The topics of interest for the conference include, but are not limited to :
- Facilitation of team coordination and data collection and exchange
- Logistics knowledge collaboration model
- Impact of introducing new technology on collaboration
- Spontaneous collaborations
- Evaluation of the most appropriate collaboration level
- Coordination of distributed supply chain partnerships
- Machine intelligence coupled with human intelligence
- Collaboration across supply networks using intelligent agents
- Knowledge-intensive collaborative design
- On-demand business process-based collaboration
- Utilizing context in knowledge management and collaborative systems
- Collaboration among entities in a network such as schedulers
- Social collaboration systems
- Intellectual capital as a resource network for collaborative decision making.
Papers focused on other areas linked to DSS area are also welcome, for example:
- Data-driven DSS (including data mining types of problems)
- Model-driven DSS
- Intelligent DSS
- Real-time DSS

The MSWord 2007 format files are not allowed, only older format versions are allowed. The conference organizers cannot provide you personal help in formatting the papers.
To be published the paper must contain a pdf AND MSWord files (or pdf AND Latex files) files in one zip file. For Latex version, all required files must be provided for generating the final version of the paper. The zip file has to be uploaded by March 28th 2008 at http://www.irit.fr/cdm-adm.
The manuscript should be submitted ‘camera-ready’, but without page numbers or running headlines.
One author of any contributions is requested to be registered to the conference to be published in the proceedings of the conference.
SUBMISSION OF FULL PAPERS FOR CAMERA READY COPY:
The maximum length of the paper is 12 pages (including figures and references). The paper SHOULD NOT contain page numbers or any special headers or footers (such as authors’ names or the title of the paper on each page, etc.). Mandatory footnotes (that are part of the paper and/or acknowledgements to the sponsors, etc.) are allowed. The paper should not be encrypted in any way.
All accepted full papers will be printed in the CDM 2008 proceedings to be published by IOS Press.
SUBMISSION OF SHORT PAPERS FOR CAMERA READY COPY:
The maximum length of the paper is 8 pages (including figures and references). The paper SHOULD NOT contain page numbers or any special headers or footers (such as authors’ names or the title of the paper on each page, etc.). Mandatory footnotes (that are part of the paper and/or acknowledgements to the sponsors, etc.) are allowed. The paper should not be encrypted in any way.
All accepted working progress papers will be printed in the CDM 2008 proceedings to be published by IOS Press.
SUBMISSION OF POSTER AND PANEL DISCUSSION PAPERS FOR CAMERA READY COPY:
All accepted posters and panel discussion papers will be printed in the CDM 2008 proceedings, supported by the SIG-DSS group, in electronic format on a CDROM.
For presentation: The poster size is A0and authors are requested to arrive at the conference with their posters. The conference organisation will provide the displays in order to support the posters.
For proceedings: The maximum length of the paper is 10 pages (including figures and references). The paper SHOULD NOT contain page numbers or any special headers or footers (such as authors’ names or the title of the paper on each page, etc.). Mandatory footnotes (that are part of the paper and/or acknowledgements to the sponsors, etc.) are allowed. The paper should not be encrypted in any way.

You can find the schedule of the social events which will take place during the Conference : events
The Welcome Reception Party at the City Hall will be a reception during which gourmet foie gras will be proposed.
The Toulouse Guided Tour will start from the Place du Capitole to finish at the place St Sernin through the street of Taur.
The Gala Dinner will take place in a good restaurant in Toulouse at the "Pavé des Minimes" the July 3rd where the food is delicious and where you can dance if you want to.

If you want to visit the city in a different way you can take the "Vélo Toulouse" (french website), which are bicycles available in the whole city, that you can have for free during 30 minutes and then you have to pay few euros if you want to keep it longer . Here is the map of the Vélo Toulouse Stations : Vélo Toulouse Stations. With theses bicycles you can go for a ride on the Canal du Midi, or the Jardin des Plantes.
You can use the subway from 05 :15 am until 00 :18 pm ( or until 1 :00 am on Fridays and Saturdays). From 9 :00 pm, each train leaves every six minutes. The last depart takes place at 0:00 at each depot (0:42 on Fridays and Saturdays)
