Topic: Nonmonotonic Reasoning

In the field of nonmonotonic reasoning we are interested in the study of inference relations in the spirit of Kraus-Lehman-Magiddor and Gärdenfors-Makinson. In particular we investigate

• the link with our research topics of conditional logics and uncertainty based reasoning
  (in collaboration with Jerôme Lang of the plausible reasoning, decision, proof methods group at IRIT)
• how to get beyond rational closure by the use of independence relations
  (in collaboration with Didier Dubois and Henri Prade of the plausible reasoning, decision, proof methods group at IRIT)

Nonmonotonic reasoning is closely related to our research topic of belief revision.
